Sai’s and former chief minister Raman Singh’s names were being considered as front-runners.
Raipur: Vishnu Deo Sai, the former Chhattisgarh BJP president, will be the new chief minister of the state. The BJP had been in a huddle over the chief ministerial name since it scored a comfortable victory in Chhattisgarh, refuting exit polls that predicted a tough fight with the Congress.
Keeping my word to the people will be my top priority as a CM. During the five years that Congress ruled, every segment of society suffered. The Pradhan Mantri Awas scheme has been denied to about 18 lakh people. In honour of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary on December 25, farmers will receive a bonus good for two years.”All the promises made under the ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ will be fulfilled,” he declared.
Former Chief Minister Raman Singh was also being considered as a front-runner, along with Vishnu Deo Sai.
The first tribal chief minister of Chhattisgarh will be Vishnu Deo Sai.
From 2020 to 2022, Sai served as the BJP’s state president. During the first term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he served as the union’s minister of state for steel. Additionally, he was a member of the Lok Sabha for the BJP, serving the Raipur constituency of Chhattisgarh. He is on the national working committee of the BJP.
The legislative assembly has unanimously decided to name Vishnu Deo Sai as its leader.Under his direction, we’ll advance the state…We carry out the duties that the parties have agreed upon. Under Vishnu Deo Sai’s direction, we will give it our all and reach new heights for the state,” BJP leader OP Chaudhary told ANI.
As a panchayat leader, Sai started his political career. Later, from 1990 to 1998, he continued to serve in the Madhya Pradesh assembly. He was chosen to serve in the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999.
He later won reelection from Raipur to the ensuing Lok Sabhas.
With his appointment as chief minister, the BJP hopes to capitalise on the state’s significant tribal vote in the general elections of 2024.
With a margin of more than 25,000 votes, Sai emerged victorious from the Kunkuri Tribal seat in the Chhattisgarh assembly elections.
In Chhattisgarh, the Bharatiya Janata Party secured 54 seats. Congress only managed to win 35 seats.
